Former School Headmaster Dies
A former headmaster of De La Salle College died yesterday aged 81.
John Sankey spent his entire career at the school before becoming the Governor of the college.
The college will honour his life with a memorial mass, and has asked people to ‘remember John and his family’ in their prayers.

Koi Herpes Virus affects common carp – causing lethargy, sunken eyes, gill damage and sudden death.
The infection can spread easily within the species, though not to other fish or humans.

New Community Hub Nears Completion
Construction of a new community hub for Jersey is almost complete.
The upgrade of the Salvation Army building in Minden Street includes an artisan bakery and cafe which will serve free soup.
There will be meeting rooms where other charities and community groups can share ideas and resources.
Community Development Manager Bob Wareing-Jones says the transformation taking shape is incredible.
“The whole of the ground floor has been completely refurbished. It will be a really modern space.”
Revised Xmas Bonus Proposed
Moves to reinstate the Christmas Bonus for some islanders have been formally presented to Jersey’s States.
Under the plans, around 5,000 islanders will get the £85 payment that was taken away from all OAPS last year.
19,000 people got the previous Christmas Bonus, which wasn’t means-tested and cost taxpayers £1.5 million a year.
Social Security plans to reintroduce the payment – but only for the least-well off pensioners with household savings of less than £30,000, and certain Income Support claimants considered to be the most vulnerable in society.
