Decision On Sports Academy Plan

A decision is due today on building a sports academy in St Peter.

Planning officers have said the development next to the rugby club should be refused.

The multi-million pound academy has had the backing of island athletes and clubs.

Former rugby coach Ben Harvey is behind the project, and says its state of the art facilities will benefit members, schools and the community.

But planning officers say it should be refused because it is in the Green Zone.

The decision will rest with the Planning Committee.
