New Beach Festival Launches Today

The first ever St Brelade’s Bay Festival is taking place today.

The beach should be busy with a number of activities on offer including yoga, beach rugby, petanque and tug of war.

There’ll also be live music and lots of local food on offer as well as sea safety lessons on the beach.

The organiser was inspired to create a local event after attending an outdoor festival focused on sport and well-being in Hawaii. Jonathan Steventon says it’s all about encouraging people to be active while enjoying our beaches.

Trek Plus Closing Today

Trek Plus will be the latest casualty on Jersey’s high street when it shuts its doors for the final time today.

The store has been holding a ‘haggle sale’ all week. We can make offers for everything in the shop – including the fixtures and fittings.

Help is at Hand is a new guide for islanders who have lost loved ones to suicide.

It’s as national figures show the number of suicides in England and Wales has hit a fifteen-year high.

There were more than five-thousand recorded in those two countries during 2015 – with national government figures also showing the number of men taking their own lives is three times higher than women.
